Velvet Crush

I've really been crushing on the velvet trend. I looked and looked during the Christmas season, but I couldn't find anything that was in my price range or something I could actually wear. Then, when we went on a short family vacation to Saluda, NC, I found an adorable black velvet cardigan (pictured) at a unique local shabby chic boutique. I ended up altering the sleeves because they had these short unattractive ruffles, and now it's perfect. When we came home, I found two other velvet items that I just had to have (both in red & they match)! Now, I've got these trendy, staple pieces that will go with other items in my closet, but put together they make a fantastic Valentines Day outfit. It's perfect for a night out, or a night in (what we're doing). In SC it ranges from 50-80 degrees every few days, so I don't know how much use I'll actually get from them this season, but now my velvet pieces will always be a part of my wardrobe and I can use them for years to come!

bodysuit (k/lab) // jeans (Hollister) // jacket (unknown) // flats (Target)

I am SO glad I waited to purchase these velvet pieces until I found what I was looking for! There were a lot of options out there, but because I took my time, I got two really great items on sale and one statement piece. I'm assuming the bodysuit was on sale from Kohl's Christmas’ collection, it was 60% off - only $15. The shoes were ½ off too at $17, because they were left over from the previous season. It pays (or should I say “saves”) to wait for the items you truly love! If these items weren't available, then that just means I wasn't meant to have them. There will always be clothes to find someWHERE, someTIME. You just have to be patient and wait for sales or snatch the items you just can't live without. What are your style goals for Valentines Day? Comment below, I'd love to chat with you! <3 Amanda
