How to Wear Mustard for Fall

It’s finally starting to feel like fall around here! We just got rid of our days in the 80s, and are feeling some cooler weather!

One of my favorite things about fall is the fashion. I love cardigans and denim. I love the deep rich colors that mimic the changing leaves on the trees.

My favorite color for fall is mustard. I used to stay away from mustard because it’s a yellow tone and I thought yellow tones looked horrible on me. But I have since come to love it.

If you’ve ever felt similarly, stick around. Here are my tips on how to wear mustard for fall!

Mini Capsule

Make sure the pieces you are getting will go with other pieces in your wardrobe. You can still pick unique styles, but chose ones that are wearable with what you already have, or that you can easily fill in the gaps, when shopping.

I like to have a couple mustard pieces so I have different variations of tones. And there are some really great jeans out right now. Good, basic neutral fall footwear is a must too!

On Top

The easiest way to wear this fall style is to just pick a mustard top that you like. I found this one and instantly fell in love.

I haven’t worn a Henley style top in years but this one just spoke to me for some reason. It also comes in several other colors if mustard just is not your thing.

This look is great for everyday wear or just lounging around. Which is mostly what I would need/use it for, so it’s perfect!

Sweater Weather

OK, so this is the same concept, because it’s a sweater worn on top, but styles in a completely different way.

And of course, who doesn’t need a sweater in fall anyway. Why not try a mustard one? So so cute & cozy for fall!

This exact outfit style is from last season, but the concept is still the same. This would be cute to wear at the pumpkin picking or a Saturday fall brunch.

Bright Bottoms

Another fun way to wear mustard is on the bottom half of your outfit. I found these skinny jeans and just had to have them.

This is another way that you can wear colors you may not think are flattering up near your hair and face. Your top will distribute the color and break it up.

I would love a mustard midi skirt or overalls too. There are many easy ways to style colorful bottoms, but I love the effortless casualness of this outfit.

It would work for school, the office, home, errands and can be dressed up. Literally the perfect comfy mom outfit.

And y’all, everyone LOVES these shoes! I always get asked about them. And for good reason.

They’re stylish, classic, beautiful, affordable and comfortable. If you only buy one pair of shoes this season, let it be these leopard pointed flats!

Tartan Days

OK, this is one of the most subtle way you can wear mustard, as an accent color. Whether it’s in a plaid design or something else, it is not the main color.

This is another fun way to pull colors you would love to wear but don’t think are fully flattering on you in a bold solid.

Tartan and plaid prints are always in for fall and winter, although the colors may change a bit. This is a timeless classic look.

Camel is also very big during fall but it goes with everything. If you’re wanting to invest in higher end pieces, I would recommend camel or black.

I wish we had cooler days sooner in the south so I could wear these adorable looks longer! I hope we’re in for cool fall temps now, though.

Hopefully I’ll get my use out of these fun, cozy fall pieces in November. Which outfit style is your favorite? Share your pick in the comments below!
