Floral Newborn Lifestyle Photo Shoot

Y’all! I am so bad… I have had Genevieve’s newborn pictures for over a month and I am just now sharing them. I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to get these out there. I haven’t even made her birth announcement yet and she's two months old! I mean, come on, it’s only 2 to 3 pictures tops for a birth announcement. I did not procrastinate this bad with Silas. But, I guess I’ve just felt like I’ve had more important things to do... Well, no more!

I am so excited to share all her newborn photo shoot cuteness with y’all! I love celebrating the miracle of childbirth and my sweet new baby with a photo shoot session.

Our photographer, Arann, worked so well with us on these shots and helped bring my Pinterest fantasies to light. She was also super patient with my little family and stayed for three long hours! :/ I am so happy with the way these turned out. See below my tips for making your photography session exactly what you want and more efficient.

One of the ways I got my photo shoot exactly the way I wanted was by choosing my own props. I picked out my flowers at Trader Joe’s. I got pretty clothes, as well as swaddling blankets. I also bought rugs and Moses baskets specifically for the shoot. Most newborn photographers will have pieces and props for you to choose from, but if you don’t discuss what you want ahead of time, you’re kind of at their mercy.

Arann said when she shows up at a house, usually people have no clue what they want or nothing set up. That is half the battle right there. If you have an idea or know specifically what you want, have a picture to show your photographer. They may not be able to do it exactly like the picture, but I bet they will have something equally doable in mind. It helps even more if you’ve discussed it ahead of time - that way you’re both prepared. Also, make sure you have all your rooms and props set up so it’s ready to go. Trust me, these tips will save you time, money and frustration!
