Last Minute Summer Bucket List Activities For Kids
Who still has a few weeks left of summer vacation? I just got the notification from my son’s school (he’s in 4K) that he doesn’t start till September!! I thought it was like next week! Oops…
I asked in my Instagram stories @valuemindedmama if y’all wanted me to share some last minute Summer Bucket List activities for kids and the answer was 100% yes! So here ya go!
1. Have a spontaneous dance party
2. Picnic at the park
I love making charcuterie boards for our summer lunches. It’s like a picnic every day!
3. Go to the beach (or lake)
If you’re looking for a good family-friendly beach in the south, Garden City, SC was a blast!!
4. Have a water balloon fight (or if you have little kids - a water gun fight)
Having a water gun fight with the grandparents is a fun summer activity to do! We love visiting Lake Murray.
5. Make Popsicles
6. Build a Sandcastle (kinetic sand)
7. Make fruit kebabs
8. Fly a kite
9. Make a summer craft
Made some diy art books with the kids. They can add their own stickers, paint in it, draw and add educational things!
10. Read a book (that’s not on your summer reading list)
Anyone else’s kids love to read?! Mine are always asking me to read them a story (and I love it!).
11. Play a new sport
12. Taste a new summer fruit or vegetable
Silas finally tried some fresh figs from our fig bush! He wouldn’t last year but saw how much daddy loves them and had to give them a go ;)
13. Go on a bike ride (or learn to ride a bike)
Our son has been riding a balance bike since he was two. He loves it! Time for him to try a “big boy” bike
14. Go camping in your backyard
15. Make leis and have a luau
16. Visit a museum, park, water park or amusement park you’ve never been to
Riverbanks Zoo & Botanical Gardens is one if the best zoos in America! It has this cool interactive children’s play zone with Waterfall Junction and so much more!!
17. Help prepare a homemade dinner
18. Play monkey in the middle
19. Go on a scavenger hunt
20. Learn about some new herbs and spices (maybe even taste a few)
21. Watch the sun set
My husband and I escaped to Florida for a week without the kiddos and this was the view from our resort balcony.
22. Stargaze
23. Jump rope
24. Color a masterpiece on the sidewalk
25. Play flashlight tag
26. Recycle plastic/cardboard/aluminum foil and make something creative
Meeting friends at the SC State Museum was a fun way to spend the summer and celebrate Space Week!
We’ve already done quite a few of these throughout the summer (and in our general day to day life, to be honest). But I still think there are some good summer bucket list ideas here and a good way to switch things up if you need some inspiration!
What stands out most to you on this list? Tell me in the comments and gave a great rest of the summer!! <3 Amanda
