How to Save on Travel Lodging
With the holiday season quickly approaching, wouldn't it be great to save some money on travel lodging? In September my husband and I celebrated my birthday by going to Waynesville, North Carolina. There was also a marriage conference we were attending that same weekend. We needed to stay for a couple nights but knew a hotel, or one of the facilities on the campus would be expensive. So we chose to start and end our search with Airbnb. This is the second time we have used Airbnb for our travel lodging, and have been very impressed both times.
We stayed at a farmhouse style bed and breakfast for two nights. This place was only 15 minutes away from the center where our marriage conference was being held. It was within walking distance to downtown shopping and restaurants. It was such a cute, quaint, small town.
Our room was listed on Airbnb as a “couple’s room”. But at one point, the farmhouse had been used as an actual bed-and-breakfast. Although they do not offer B&B services now, it is still setup to accommodate many couples with their own rooms and bathrooms.
It had a large dining room for multiple guests/events. There was also a gorgeous wraparound porch and plenty of outdoor seating. Parking was not an issue either! The owner even said she rents out the entire house. This would be the perfect place for a girlfriends weekend or family vacation.
Usually, this stay would have cost $132, but by signing up with my husband’s link, I was able to get $40 off of our entire lodging. Here is my link so you can rake in the savings too! We could not have had a better stay/room in a hotel, for the same price! Here is the listing for this room in the 1900’s Farmhouse.
I will probably always choose Airbnb over a hotel. You get extremely discounted rates, meet local people (if they are in residence), and stay at a place that feels more like home. Book your next travel destination with lodging through Airbnb. When is it ever a bad idea to save $40 on travel lodging?
