Rootie the Rootlifter by Voloom Review
When I first heard about Rootie the Rootlifter, a volumizing crimping iron by Voloom, I was not quite sure how it would work. My hair is naturally kind of voluminous because it's thick and frizzy. Plus, I have great natural waves that add a lot of body. But my hair is also very fine. So even though I have a lot of hair, it can get flat in a minute because the strands are so thin and it gets weighed down.

The premise of Rootie the Rootlifter is to crimp your hair at the root, creating instant volume. There is a technique to using this iron, but it’s pretty simple. You don’t want the crimped part to show through, so you’ll need to section off a part of your hair that can cover the crimped sections. Then just take a medium size chunk of hair (that will create the volume) and crimp from the root to about two or 3 inches down (Depending on how long your hair is). Make sure you hold the section straight up for the full list amount of volume. Then style as desired.
I will say that I did not immediately see a huge improvement using Rootie. But there was a little volume. For me, it would be most useful when I have dirty hair and want a quick lift. Although, there was more noticeable volume when I flipped my hair to the opposite side I had styled on. That is usually how I create natural volume without any tools/products anyways.
Rootie accomplishes this a little bit. It’s instant gratification, without having to spend any time waiting for my hair to dry in position. Of course, that means I have to take the extra step of drying and styling my hair. Then I will be able to use the root lifter, as you can only use it on dry hair. Which is why I say it would be best for day old hair.
Final thoughts about Rootie the Rootlifter - yes, it does work and creates instant volume. Would I necessarily buy this iron to achieve this? No. I’m not too concerned about the volume in my hair. Like I said, I can attain it pretty easily on my own. So for me, this is not a necessity. But, if you are constantly trying to get volume in your hair and you want a quick fix, then I would highly suggest this for you.
