The Best Kind of Sale
The best sales are the ones that are “take an additional percent off” clearance. Most stores offer this at some point to get rid of excess product. I happened to stumble upon such a sale as this, while I was shopping on King Street in Charleston two weekends ago. And wouldn't you know, the store I was in was Anthropologie!
I was shocked! I usually don't even bother going into Anthropologie, because I know it's going to be incredibly way out of my price range for even just one item. Maybe I could swing it for the home goods, but I'm a clothes girl and can't go into ANY store without checking out their clothes, so I don't even tempt the waters. However, all the boutiques on King Street range anywhere from $50-$500 for one item. And I'm definitely not going to spend that. Even their clearance, if they had one, was still no savings at all in my opinion. So when I entered Anthro, I headed straight to the back for the clearance section. When I saw that their clearance was an additional 30% off - you better believe I searched through every single rack.
Believe it or not, I found something that I actually wanted! The other thing about Anthropologie is, sometimes their clothes are so out there I can't even fathom how I would wear something like that in a normal environment. I'm a mom, and a lot of their clothes are made for bohemian fashionistas or people with really good and wild style sense, which is so not me. But, I ended up finding this gorgeous pink ruffle top and I am just in love with it!
I mean, look at those sleeves! They are the perfect width, length and volume with that adorable double tiered ruffle; it's too cute. The bright bold pink reminds me of a flamingo, and since I haven't been able to find any flamingo tops or rompers that I like, this flirty top was just perfect for me.
And the back, how cute is this button up back? They're light gray mother of pearl buttons. It just gives the top some extra detail and flare.
Also, this top is linen, so it's super comfy and lightweight. I'm totally almost three months pregnant while wearing this, but I'm excited for when I'm not, because I think it's got a little bit of “crop” to it. This is definitely a fun statement piece that I could wear for multiple seasons and years to come. It was only $28, originally $68 (which I would not have paid)!
You too can find sales just like this one. You just have to be patient, and willing to check stores regularly.
