May's Thrifty Challenge Winner

May's Thrifty Challenge Winner

Happy Thrifty Thursday!! For May's Thrifty Challenge, the goal was to find “the best accessory”. I have found several accessories through my thrifting journeys that I love and use regularly. I wanted to give y’all an opportunity to experience the same thrill when searching for your own unique finds while thrifting. Well, we have our winner and she created some very diversified stylish looks. She actually found two accessories while thrift shopping! She created a bohemian casual look for the first accessory (perfect for the beach!) and the other she dressed up a bit more (date night!). I would totally rock BOTH of these looks! So congrats to our winner, Lois East.

Here's a little bit about Lois:

She was born and raised in Southwest LA, but currently resides in North AL with her husband and two youngest children. She loves to scrapbook, read, design & paint signs, and anything beach related.

She has been thrifting since she was a little girl, and her mom gave her one dollar to spend at a garage sale. She loves the thrill of finding a deal on something that retails for much more (don’t we ALL?!). She also loves it when people compliment something she is wearing or that is on display in her home, and she gets to say it was purchased at a thrift store. She appreciates the quote a famous money mentor used when they said, "Buy used and save the difference!" She’d rather save her money for the beach with family than give it to the retailer. (Amen!)

After years of working in the corporate world, Lois made some major life changes and became a stay at home mom. Now she works from home running her own home business: Ellie Graces Attic. She is doing something she loves - designing and painting signs. This allows her extra time with family, to serve in ministry, extra income for savings, and of course, extra money to thrift!

Thank you so much, Lois for being a part of this Thrifty Challenge. I’m so glad she was able to find some amazing pieces and had fun doing it. And aren’t her outfits just so chic and trendy? I love it.

For June’s Thrifty Challenge, I’m thinking “best dressed”. This literally means, the person who can find the best “dress” while thrift shopping. It’s been mid 90’s here in SC - that’s hot. So I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect dresses this season. Plus, I’m pregnant and dresses are incredibly easy and effortless. I always start in thrift stores, but if they fail me, I’ve got a few stores on stand-by. So, I want to see what the thrift stores around YOUR area have! You can justify why it’s “the best dress” when you submit your current THRIFTED receipt (no consignment shops, ladies), and unedited pictures (no more than 4) to: info@valuemindedmama.com. Challenge starts NOW (GO!) and ends on Sunday, 6/25 (a good long amount of time). Winner will be chosen on Monday, 6/26 and blog post featuring the winner will be on Thursday, 6/29. Open to all ages 18+. GOOD LUCK, Y’ALL. I can't wait to see all the dresses! <3 Amanda
